Mama’s story: From Housekeeper to Cookie Chef
Mama Bongi is a larger-than-life wonderful African Mama who is impossible not to love. It all began in Julia Finnis-Bedford’s kitchen when Mama started making lunches and cookies for clients on set with Amazing Spaces- Julia’s film location agency. Her cookies became very popular and eventually a local deli agreed to stock the cookies-the rest is history!
This collaboration is very special to us as it shines a light on Mama’s incredible story as well as highlighting our South African roots in celebration of Heritage Day- with both Gelato Mania and Mama Bongi being proudly South African businesses.
We have created a flavour that highlights exactly what Mama became famous for- her Chunky Milk Choc Chip Cookies. The flavour is moreish, delicious and made with Mama’s cookies, of course! Come in store and enjoy this flavour, made with a lot of love, especially for you.
